Gordon Moffat pens contract extension

Clydebank FC is delighted to announce manager Gordon Moffat and his backroom team have signed new long-term contracts at the club until June 2029.

A fan favourite as a player, Gordon returned to the club in September 2019 and has since helped guide the club to the West of Scotland Premier Division title and win promotion to the Lowland League while being at the forefront of some memorable Scottish Cup runs along the way.

Moff explained: “It’s something Grace and I spoke about for a wee while, probably towards the end of last season. We had a few informal chats about it, but there was no huge rush because I still had this year remaining on my current contract, and I guess both parties then wonder what is coming next. Like we did when I first came into the club, we spoke about what’s coming next and we decided to go quite long term with the contract. I’ve been here a long time already, but in my eyes I’ve only completed half the job. I’ve hopefully kept my side of it in terms of completing the first part which was to get us out of tier six, now we want to get to league football.

“It gives us a bit of continuity and time to do that. We know from where we were to getting to tier five took a bit of time, with a dose of frustration in there too. That will be the plan now, and hopefully we do it sooner rather than later but we’ve now got that time to build and learn from things as we go. You can see with the long term signing of Dean Cairns we are already thinking about building and what’s next. Hopefully it gives current players and potential players that wee bit of security and comfort that the staff and environment is going to stay the same and we want to keep building.

“The connection around the club just now is fantastic. It’s something we as a staff try to build, we’re very careful of who we bring to the club – both staff and players. We want that ethos and culture to be right through the club and dressing room. We’ve got an amazing culture in there now, and the most important people there are the players.

“I’ve obviously just had my six year anniversary and I’ve absolutely loved my time. I have so many memories and moments, and some of the photos I’ve got in my office at home are amazing and things I’ll look back on for the rest of my life. From the Scottish Cup runs, winning the league, promotion play-offs – so much has happened and hopefully we’ve got many more memories to come.”
